English
Students will develop language and vocabulary to support their reading and writing, gaining knowledge from stories, plays, poetry, non-fiction and textbooks. They will learn how to read root words, prefixes and suffixes to understand new words. They will read and understand new fiction, poetry, plays, non-fiction and reference books, as well as engaging with a wide range of books including myths, legends, traditional stories, modern fiction and books from other cultures and traditions. They will write using words with silent letters, good vocabulary, grammar and punctuation, and learn how to use dictionaries and thesauruses. Students will plan and draft their writing, then evaluate, edit and proofread it for spelling and punctuation errors.
Mathematics
Students will broaden their understanding of the number system, and placing value to include larger integers, developing connections made between multiplication and division with 20 fractions, decimals, percentages and ratios. They will learn to read Roman numerals, describe linear number sequences, add, subtract multiply and divide with more than four digits. They will also learn to recognise and use square and cube numbers, add and subtract fractions with the same denominator, convert between different units of metric measure, identify 3D shapes and draw and identify angles.
Science
Students will learn about living things and their habitats – be able to describe the differences in the life cycles of a mammal, an amphibian, an insect and a bird. They will learn to describe the life process of reproduction in some plants and animals. They will learn and understand the changes humans undergo as they develop. They will be taught about properties and changes of materials on the basis of their properties, including their hardness, solubility, transparency, conductivity and response to magnets. They will also study Earth and Space, where they will learn to describe the movement of the Earth, Moon and Sun relative to the rest of the solar system. They will study forces and that unsupported objects fall towards Earth due to the force of gravity, and that this is affected by air resistance, water resistance and friction that acts between moving surfaces.
History
Students will learn to develop a chronologically secure knowledge and understanding of British, local and world history, establishing clear narratives within and across the periods they study. They will learn about connections, contrasts and trends over time and develop the appropriate use of historical terms. They will gain an understanding of the essential events and features of the history of the world as a whole, focusing on the earliest civilisations, most powerful empires, and the ways in which humanity has succeeded and failed.
Sociology
In the early years of Key Stage 1, students will begin to grasp the basics of sociology. They will develop an awareness of the people around them, exploring concepts like family, friends, and community. Through storytelling, discussions, and simple activities, children will learn about roles, relationships, and the importance of working together. As students progress into Key Stage 2, they will delve deeper into the realm of sociology. They will broaden their understanding of societal structures and dynamics. Topics covered include community diversity, citizenship, and the impact of culture and heritage on our lives. Students will also explore concepts such as cooperation, teamwork, and empathy, helping them develop a well-rounded understanding of society.
Geography (Subject available on request)
Students will develop their knowledge of globally significant places, including their defining physical and human characteristics and processes. They will develop geographical skills – learning how to collect data, interpret a range of sources of geographical information including maps, diagrams, globes, aerial photographs and Geographical Information Systems. They will learn to identify countries’ locations, naming cities, counties and physical characteristics like hills, mountains, coasts and rivers in the United Kingdom. They will also learn to understand aspects of physical geography like rivers, mountains, volcanoes and earthquakes, and will introduce human geography – land use and economic activity – and natural resources like energy, food, minerals and water.

Arabic
Key Stage 1 and 2 Arabic offers young learners an engaging introduction to the Arabic language and its basics. The curriculum focuses on basic language skills, cultural appreciation, and foundational literacy. Students are introduced to the Arabic script, vocabulary, and simple phrases, while also gaining insight into the diverse topics in Arabic. Through storytelling, literature, and creative activities, students develop elementary reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills and develop understanding in Arabic foundation.
English
Students will be taught how to speak and write fluently, giving them the tools to communicate their ideas and emotions to others – and, through their reading and listening, to let others communicate with them. They will cover reading, writing, grammar and vocabulary, and spoken English, with a programme that promotes high standards of language and literacy, by equipping students with a strong command of the spoken and written word, as well as developing their love of literature through widespread reading for enjoyment.
Mathematics
Students will be taught numbers, algebra, ratio, proportion and rates of change, geometry and measures, probability, and statistics. They will learn the ability to reason mathematically – following a line of inquiry and solving problems by applying their Mathematics to a variety of routine and non-routine problems with increasing sophistication, including breaking problems into smaller steps and persevering in seeking solutions.
Science
Students will learn how science can explain events as they occur, predict how things will behave and analyse their causes. They will develop scientific knowledge and conceptual understanding, as well as their understanding of the nature, processes and methods of science. Students will develop their scientific knowledge required to understand the uses and implications of science, today, and for the future. Students will extend and deepen their chronologically secure knowledge and understanding of British, local and world history, so that it provides a well-informed context for wider learning. ICT for key stage 3 introduces students to the essential skills and knowledge required to navigate the digital world.
